A micro with a slightly odd and disconcerting layout, with going to the bar necessitating walking past the 'settled-in' clientelle! Three beers on offer and the Kent Extra Stout (4.2%) was very good. Only a short walk from the station so a good place to kill some time waiting for a train.

Moved from its previous side street location in 2020, this is a proper DIY micro in a weirdly laid-out interior. Enter to a blue oblong room with office carpet and two dart boards. The bar is in another oblong room up a couple of steps behind, this time in grey and fairly starkly lit. Friendly lad behind the bar, who served me up a good quality cask of Mighty Oak Copperhead (NBSS 3.5). Forgot to note what else was on the ale list but I did spot a few ciders. Not the home of the finest minds, there was an odd argument going on with a weirdo who thought all sports should be made mixed sex (I wonder if he was wearing a pair of frilly knickers?) whilst a young lanky and unassuming lad plied the dart board with a decent scores in preparation for a later match. Much like Gillingham itself, I thought this place was a bit peculiar but the friendly serve and decent pint means it’s worth popping in if you happen to wash-up in this rather downtrodden corner of Kent.

Side-street micro-pub but close by the High Street. Being converted from a narrow unit, the rear bar counter (located up a few steps) feels more separated from the front seating area than it really is. There are no handpumps here, with three real ales - Oakham JHB, Piddle's Cocky Dorset IPA (£3.50) and Old Man & The Sea stout from Mighty Oak - being dispensed on gravity from the cool room at the back.
